Thursday, November 15th - Pre-K & Kindergarten Thanksgiving Feast!
Parents and Guardians are welcome to come to this Feast just right for our youngest Students! Our Teachers do a wonderful job of preparing their Classes on the meaning behind this Holiday; they also make decorations and simple costumes to wear as they eat their own Thanksgiving Dinner together! This is a treasured event that allows our Students to learn about this beautiful Holiday and include their families in the celebration. A separate letter came home from the Classroom Teachers regarding specific details.
Sunday, November 18th - Family Advent Celebration
At St. John's School, we teach our Faith within our classes, interwoven between and in all of the subjects we cover. That's part of the benefit of sending your child to a Catholic School! Our Parish also has a program for young people to learn more about our Religion, called "Faith Formation", which aims to teach our Faith to the children in our Parish Family who may attend public school or are homeschooled - they are taught on Monday evenings and Saturday mornings. This program is a bit more concentrated and leads them through their Sacraments!
We love for when Students from both programs, our School and the Parish's Faith Formation, have the opportunity to come together in ways to build their bond and the deepening of their Faith... and when Families can do it together - even better! This year, we've seen the introduction of such opportunities, and the first one is the "Family Advent Celebration", that starts with Mass together at 9:30, then continues over at the School for more activities. From Organizers at the Parish's Faith Formation program: "If you want to attend please let us know asap. It starts at 9:30 am with mass, followed by refreshments, then Advent related reflections, and finally craft time divided into age groups. All activities end at 1pm and we hope to see everyone there!" Please RSVP to the Rectory by calling (716) 937-6959 or on St. John's Faith Formation Facebook Page.

Thursday, December 20th - Secret Santa's Shop
A special and much loved day for all of our Students to shop for Christmas gifts for their Families - parents, siblings, grandparents - even their pets! The organizers do an AMAZING job of securing really great items at low cost by strategically shopping throughout the year, to be able to pass on that low cost to the kids. It is such a wonderful service for our school, and we are so thankful for all the effort! Goodies are served and many parent volunteers are needed to gift wrap the special secret finds... so that all the children have to do is place them under the tree for a fun and meaningful suprise from the heart on Christmas morning.
Labels will be sent home beforehand to allow Parents or Students to fill in recipients names to facilitate shopping that day. Then, you can send in any amount of money you wish for them to spend that day in an envelope with the pre-printed labels, and that will help anyone who might be helping them to shop. Writing down any amounts you'd like for them to stay within for each recipient is also helpful. Please note: Pre-K 3 Parents are asked to have someone there to shop with their children at pickup time to help them in their selections! :)
